|
|
|
Hey guys, my mom has a home office and her company bought her a new copier/scanner/printer. It's network ready and was wondering what the easiest way to set it up for the other computers in my house to use it.
Keep in mind my mom's comp is a company laptop so i'm not sure how much they've allowed for. The printer is a sharp AL-2040CS. Her comp has xp pro and mine has xp media center 2005. I've tried for about an hour myself but it's simply not been working for me.
Any help is appreciated. _________________

what do you mean "network ready"? I'm too lazy to go look up your printer, but does it have a RJ45 (network cable) connection on it or wireless or something? _________________

did it come with a book? You may have to plug it into a computer via the usb cable to set the network information.
Is your network router assigning IP addresses? Find out what your subnet is
click on start-run
then type cmd in the run box
in the DOS box type ipconfig
that will give you the subnet and gateway _________________

i have a 2600n HP at home and the cd runs an auto network discovery to find the printer.
the older ones at work... you can set the IP on the little lcd screen on the printer, then just map it as a Local Printer, create port, pick Standard TCPIP port, type in the IP, then browse to the drivers.
i use this as a workaround when the print server goes down. _________________
